I met my wife while working at GE, Syracuse, NY in 1962. At the time she had 3 children, two boys and a girl. We now have 5 grandchildren of which the two oldest are in college. We retired to Jersey which is where my wife originally came from. Jersey is one of the Channel Islands at the Western end of the English Channel. It however is closer to France (14 miles) than England.

After high school I graduated from UNH, and served in the army for two years. I spent the next 37 years working for the Soil Conservation Service where I enjoyed incredable freedom in my choices of work and how I went about it. Ten years as a soil scientist where I made the first presentation in the US on the use potential of soil survey information in community and regional planning and development. I spent the next ten years developing community planning techniques, and in communicating these techniques in government(federal. state and local), and in numerous colleges and Universities. Somehow, I got involved with the seeding and vegetative renovation of the many State of New Hampshire owned earthen flood control dams. During this period, I became interested in plant research. I tried to find plants that would grow on strip mines, drouthy construction sites, highway slopes, and gravel pits without the used of topsoil. This culmated in 1992 with the receiving of the highest national award for plant research relative to so called critical area stabilization. I can ride the roads of many states and see the results of this work.
In addition to doing my regular work, I and initionally 60 others, rated college graduates for for various jobs in about 22 federal agencies. This was a closed society with few people knowing about us. This work was extremely interesting as we were continuously evaluating curriculums in colleges and universities throughout the country. We were among the first to realize that women were replacing males in institutions of higher learning. This observation blew our minds at the time.
I retired to go in business with my son purchasing and renovating apartment buildings in the Dover/Rochester area. I have four children and nine grand children with more on the way.
Beverly White, class of 50 has shared my life for the past eighteen yeears.
